SUMMER ACTIVITIES

at salzburg mountains

The contrasts between majestic mountains, smooth, green pastures, rumbling torrents and quiet lakes are part of what makes the Austrian Alps so attractive. Perfect for testing your limits or getting away from daily routines.
We provide you with a mountain bike map, a hiking map and a thick folder full of tour suggestions and insider tips in your ALPIN CHALET.

HIKING TRAILS

At the edge of the Hohe Tauern national park, you will find many hiking trails for the whole family, leading you to crystal-clear lakes and quaint mountain huts.

All hiking trails in Salzburger Sportwelt are marked and signposted well. Additionally, all trails are classified, so you choose the right path for your level: Blue stands for an easy hiking trail, red marks a more sporty challenge, and black is recommended for experienced hikers only accompanied by an experienced mountain guide.

HIKING BUS

From the locations of the ALPIN CHALETS, an impressive hiking area stretches out, easily accessible even without a car. The hiking bus or mountain railways offer beautiful circular tours. Rides on the hiking buses are free in all towns with your guest card.

MOUNTAIN CABLEWAYS

The mountain railways transport you to the best starting points for hikes, mountain bike tours, and special family mountain experiences. Once at the top, you can visit one of the traditional mountain huts or simply enjoy the view. This service is especially popular with families, but mountain bikers also use the lifts and gondolas in the summer.

SUMMER MOUNTAIN EXPERIENCE INCLUDED

For ALPIN CHALET guests at the Filzmoos, Wagrain, and Kleinarl locations, the Filzmoos and Shuttleberg Kleinarl mountain railways are included with the guest card.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

The trail is the goal – enjoy the region’s extensive MTB network.
The Salzburg Sportwelt offers a sprawling MTB trail network of around 500 kilometers, including routes in Flachau, Flachauwinkl, Wagrain-Kleinarl, and Filzmoos. The region impresses with its expertise in biking, variety, and an unmatched range of services. Designated downloadable routes, relaxed hosts, and skilled guides ensure that mountain bikers can explore the area in the best possible way. One of the highlights is the ultimate bike challenge, the 'Stoneman Taurista' - stoneman-taurista.com.
For families with young bikers, we recommend Shuttleberg in Kleinarl with the Kids Trail and the Boom Park in Wagrain at the Flying Mozart middle station.

RENTAL EQUIPMENT

Mountain bikes, trekking bikes, hiking shoes, and Nordic walking poles in all sizes including kid’s sizes; our partners will provide you with equipment for all your needs. If ordered ahead, your rental equipment will be waiting in your ALPIN CHALET upon your arrival. Links to our local partners can be found at the respective location.

RAFTING, CANYONING & KAYAKING

When rafting, canyoning or kayaking you are as close to nature as when hiking through the gorge but the ride on the white-water is full of action that you will not forget.

SWIMMING

Lakes: In Flachau and Flachauwinkl you can choose between two swimming lakes nearby. Both can be reached by bike within 15 minutes and are free of charge.
Thermal baths: Our guests enjoy reduced entrance to Therme Amadé Spa  in Altenmarkt and Adventure Pool Wasserwelt in Wagrain. (Our guests in Wagrain and Kleinarl have free entry to Wasserwelt Wagrain in both summer and winter.)
In Filzmoos, you will find an Adenture Park with indoor and outdoor facilities, a climbing wall, a fun court and children’s play facilities. (Our guests in Filzmoos have free entry to the Adventure Park Filzmoos in the summer.)

CLIMBING

In the high ropes courses, you’ll feel the adrenaline rush through your veins at over 15 meters in height. The climbing options in the region are also diverse, ranging from sport climbing and via ferrata tours to climbing towers and alpine parks. The Wagrain-Kleinarl KLETTER WELT offers zip lines, rope courses, and via ferratas with varying difficulty levels amidst breathtaking mountain scenery.
